I see my primary role as a university teacher to consist of challenging my students. In so doing, it is my responsibility to help my students grow intellectually and to become better thinkers. It is my goal to make students understand that the material we discuss in class is complex, that it has real-world implications and, consequently, a bearing on their lives. I am concerned with establishing a learning environment in which everyone feels welcome, and in which students can make progress towards becoming better thinkers and more conscientious citizens.
